The Reptarium is currently looking to add another Animal Educator to our staff! We are looking to fill the position with an outgoing individual who has a passion for animals and wants to share that with people of all ages.
 
Schedule: To start the position is part-time, but will move to full-time. Days and times vary depending on bookings, but the constant is working during our open to the public hours which are Friday & Saturday 4-9 pm and Sunday 3-8 pm.
 
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Giving presentations for Private Tours, Birthday Parties, and Field Trips.
  • Doing Traveling Zoo 2 you presentations at Homes, Schools, Daycare Centers, and other venues.
  • Working Open to the Public Hours Friday, Saturday & Sunday at The Reptarium.
  • Become knowledgeable about our many Animal Ambassadors to be able to provide information to our patrons.
  • Work along with our Zoo Keepers helping with Animal maintenance as needed
  • Must have an outgoing personality and be able to give our patrons an excellent experience.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds in order to move some of our larger animals.
  • Perform other duties as required
Working Conditions: Work is performed mainly indoors, but sometimes outdoors weather permitting.
 
Physical Requirements: The ability to perform principal duties is required. The Animal Educator must be able to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Minimum):
  • Bachelor's degree in zoology or a closely related discipline and two years of experience in the care and management of captive wildlife.
  • OR: An Associate's Degree in a related discipline and four years of experience in the care of captive wildlife.

  • Prior management or leadership experience is a plus
  • Able to stand for long periods at a time

Base Pay: From $12.50 per hour
Additional compensation: Commissions once fully trained.
