Pastel Pied Ball Python

Latin name:  Python regius

 Piebald ball pythons have been recorded as early as 1966. The term Piedbald is defined as having patches of black and white. It was shortened to Pied after a few years. It is a recessive trait.

Native Home: The Ball Python is found in sub-Saharan Africa.

Size:  Ball Pythons- Females tend to be slightly bigger than males, maturing around 4.0–4.5 ft. Males typically grow to around 3.0–3.5 ft. Their build is stocky, while the head is relatively small. 

Diet: In the wild Ball Pythons diet consists mostly of small mammals, such as African soft furred mice, shrews, mice and birds. In captivity they feed on rodents.

Reproduction: Ball Pythons breed from September to November and lay 1-11 eggs in a burrow. The female incubates the eggs by balling around them and some two months later they hatch. The eggs are slightly adhesive and stick together. They hatch between 55-60 days.

Lifespan: Ball Pythons can live 30 years or more. The record age for a ball python is more than 40 years.
